The G7 Alliance will intensify its campaigns this weekend, as they head to Maasailand and Ukambani for a series of rallies and prayers for the Ocampo Four. According to an itinerary released yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto are expected to be joined by Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka in rallies to be held in Kajiado and Machakos counties. Tomorrow, the G7 will be Loitokitok, on Saturday in Ngong and conclude their weekend rallies at Machakos on Sunday.
However Kalonzo will skip the Loitokitok and Ngong rallies as he will be in Kisii and Western on Friday and Saturday respectively to attend funerals. Yesterday Kalonzo's spokesman Kaplich Barsito confirmed that the VP will join Uhuru and Ruto and more than 50 MPs at the Machakos prayer meeting.
Meanwhile, Justice minister Mutula Kilonzo has been criticised for intensifying calls for Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru to resign. Nairobi businessman and politician Kevin Malinga says Mutula appears to have picked on Uhuru for a fight but warned it will backfire. “It seems the minister is hell bent to make a a political career by continuous engagement with Uhuru but I advise him that that can't succeed.”
Malinga says that although Mutula is entitled to his views, he should not make it a daily routine to talk about Uhuru. Malinga who is eying the Nairobi senator's seat asked the Wiper Democratic Movement and PNU to ignore Mutula's remarks. Addressing a press conference in Nairobi yesterday, Malinga said Uhuru should also ignore Mutula and instead concentrate on his presidential campaigns.
