Two Central Kenya politicians ran into trouble with some voters over the weekend for failing to declare their support for Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.
Former minister Joseph Kamotho and Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni were jeered during rallies held in the region.
On Saturday, Mr Kamotho was forced off the podium in Murang'a after residents refused to listen to him unless he declared his support for Mr Kenyatta.
The former Mathioya MP, who has declared interest in running for governorship in Murang'a, was heckled by the crowd, which repeatedly shouted “sema Uhuru” (say Uhuru).
Mr Kamotho had to be forced off the dais by MPs from Murang’a during the meeting dubbed the Country Forum Initiative, held at General Ihura Stadium.
MPs Elias Mbau (Maragua), Clement Wambugu (Mathioya), Maina Kamau (Kandara) and Murang’a County professionals attended the event.
Mr Kamotho is among Central Kenya politicians who are supporting Internal Security Minister Prof George Saitoti’s presidential bid.
In Ndaragwa, Mr Kioni received a dress-down from MPs who had accompanied Mr Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto for his association with the United Democratic Forum.
An uneasy Mr Kioni watched as his guests dismissed anyone who was not ready to support Mr Kenyatta to wild cheers from the crowd in the rally.
Mr Ruto said that Kalenjins would vote for Mr Kenyatta because he is a Kenyan.
He also dismissed claims that Kikuyus cannot vote for someone from another tribe as President.

if you dont endorse uhuru kenyatta and you come from cental province, dont even try an elective post. you will be surprised. He is the HERO right now and we have to agree with that.
