Corridors of Power

One of the many politicians who have expressed interest in vying for the presidency has found himself in trouble of a domestic nature. One of his girlfriends who lives in Mombasa is seeking advice from friends and relatives because she is tired of the politician's abrupt summonses to attend to his comfort. The young woman is weary and now weighing the options, with a view to ending the relationship altogether.

Staff at the CID headquarters are grumbling. Our moles tell us that the department has become so starved of funds that they are no longer able to service or replace their dilapidated and unroadworthy vehicles or even access fuel for the ones that are in some semblance of working condition. The situation is so dire that a senior investigations officer on duty in North Eastern Province had to hire a vehicle to take him there after he was unable to get a serviceable one assigned to him for the trip. There are no vehicles for operations and all elite units are relying on leased vehicles. Coincidentally, the company the vehicles are being leased from is owned by a well connected individual!

It seems the Nairobi City Council is spoiling for a fight to recover some land that has been taken up by individuals. Noises coming from the city's legal department indicate that opinion is divided over whether or not to take on two top city legal firms who have been retained by the new owners of the disputed plot. Those opposed to the council taking on the two law firms say the council is likely to lose the case anyway. “Why waste Sh127 million just to lose the case?" one adviser said.
