| null     1/1 ARUSHA, Jul 2 - A Tanzanian court has granted the extradition of a Kenyan man to Uganda to stand trial over July 2010 bombings that killed 76 people, a prosecutor told AFP Saturday. The court in Tanzania's commercial capital Dar es Salaam agreed to the prosecutor's request to extradite Mohamed Mohamed who was arrested in January. "The Kisutu court granted our application to extradite the suspect to Uganda to face justice," said prosecutor Prosper Mwagamila. "I don't know if he has already been extradited. Our job as prosecution was to make sure that the application is granted. He can lodge an appeal if he wishes," he added. Mohamed's lawywer Jethro Mwesiga opposed the ruling, arguing that his client would not receive a fair trial. The July 11, 2010 bombing of two bars in the Ugandan capital Kampala was claimed by Somalia's Al-Qaeda-inspired Shebab rebels and was the worst in East Africa since attacks on the US embassy in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam in 1998. Uganda has charged 36 people for their suspected role in the attacks. |
