Share/Save/Bookmark STATE House is yet to pay Sh600,000 in meals allowances to President Kibaki's press crew that traveled with him to the US and United Kingdom last year. President Kibaki last year toured the US and the UK for 12 days out of which 28 PPS staff who worked during the tour both abroad and at home have not been paid.
A cash-flow problem in Treasury is said to occasioned the delay in payment of the allowances. “It is unfair for the President's staff to stay this long without receiving the pay. This could affect morale for people who ensure that the presidential schedule is successful,” said one of the staff members
Contacted Kabira said State House experienced a cash flow problem. “It is important for the staff to be paid their allowance promptly, but we had a cash flow problem.” He said that eight of the staff who accompanied the President to the US and the UK were paid, but due to time difference the rest could not be paid on time.
