Ruto declares his new political ally

United Democratic Movement (UDM) party leader William Ruto has declared his new political ally in coast province as campaigns for 2012 General election begin to take shape.

The Eldoret North MP said he has formed alliance with Trade Minister who is also Matuga MP Ali Chirau Mwakwere casting doubt the sustainability of the G7 alliance.

The two said time has come for politicians of like mind and vision to leave their political parties and form alliance to salvage the country from poor leadership that has made Kenyans languish in poverty.

Ruto and Makwere said they have agreed to come together and undergo UDM party nomination and whoever wins will be the party torch bearer in 2012 General elections.

‘If am defeated by Ruto I will accept and become his running mate and incase I defeat him, the Eldoret North Mp will be my running mate', he declared.

"That is why we have decided to be united with other leaders as this is the only way we shall have the ability to change this country for the better', he noted.

The suspended higher education minister blamed poor and unfocussed leadership for the famine situation threatening the lives of more than 5 million Kenyans.

"It is a great shame that about fifty years after independence, more than five million Kenyans are facing starvation, not because we do not have the means but due to poor leadership and mere rhetoric," he said.

The two made the remarks when they addressed a public rally at Bomani village in Magarini constituency on Friday.

They were accompanied by six mps who included kaloleni MP Kazungu Kambi, Mohammed Ali (Moyale), Cyrus Jirongo(Lugale), Ekue Ethuro(Turkana) and Mohammed Hussein of Mandera East.

Mutava declares interest

Meanwhile, Gachoka Mp Rev. Mutava Musyimi has Saturday officially launched his bid to run for presidency come next year's general election with a call on Kenyans to say no to impunity and corruption brace themselves for a critical time of change come next year.

Mutava declared his interest in the seat at Nakuru's Nyayo garden where he stated that time had come for Kenyans to fix leadership and redefine their destiny by changing the culture of politics, reclaim their country, their lives and their government from people who have mismanaged the country for a long time.

Mutava who adopted the famous "Wakati Ni Sasa" slogan said that time was ripe for Kenyans to get fresh, visionary and dedicated leadership that will drive the country towards greater heights of success, justice, unity and a society that respects human rights.

He stated that his leadership would focus on practical policies, economy driven towards finding lasting solutions to chronic poverty, fighting corruption and impunity, hunger among other challenges.

Mutava, said that his leadership would bring renewed dedication and commitment to education and in particular to village polytechnics and technical institutions, put more money into youth agenda and re-energize public institutions and public service as a whole so that they can serve the common good.

He called Kenyans to rally behind him as they pursue the dream of a better, democratic Nation.
