Kenyans set to dominate music awards

Kenya got the most number of nominations in the first East Africa Music Awards (EMAs).
The event will be viewed in eight African countries.
Artistes from Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, DR Congo, South Sudan and Ethiopia will battle it out in a an event to be screened by 10 TV stations and aired on two radio stations in Nairobi on August 20.

“We are revolutionising the music industry in our region and we promise that this will be the most fair and comprehensive awards ever,” said Dr Alfred Mutua, who is the EMAs founder.
The awards are categorised into urban contemporary, gospel, Afro Fusion, rhumba, folk/traditional, most promising and best video categories.
Jaguar has been nominated for Best Male artiste in the Urban category for his hit song Kigeugeu.
A panel of 10 judges led by John Katana of Them Mushrooms will pick the winners.
