Gesami in Hospital

Public Health and Sanitation Assistant Minister Doctor James Gesami, who is also the West Mugirango Member of Parliament is crying foul, terming a raid carried out by armed police officers at his rural home, as both illegal, and in bad taste. Gesami, who is now admitted at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi, says that 12 armed police officers raided his house last Thursday under the pretext that they were looking for him. He is being sought after by the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly misappropriating CDF money, amounting to close to 6 million shillings. When contacted however, KACC officials denied that officers broke into the legislator's home and harassed its occupants. But, as Sheilla Sendeyo now reports, KACC insists that Gesami would still have to appear in court on Monday or else risk arrest.
