Share/Save/Bookmark SABOTI legislator Eugene Wamalwa insisted yesterday remarks he made during a rally organised at Uhuru Park to welcome International Criminal Court suspects from The Hague were fair.
Wamalwa had been summoned to the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters to record a statement regarding the remarks. He said he still believes there was a letter originating from the Orange Democratic Movement secretariat urging ICC prosecutor Louis Moreno-Ocampo to detain Deputy Prime Minister and minister for Finance Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret South MP William Ruto. "I received summons to appear at CID headquarters to record a statement about a letter to the ICC written by the ODM and was read at Uhuru Park. I made the comments based on the letter that I saw. I stand by my words  because if the two are not dangerous to the security. Uhuru is not a war monger because if he were, there would have been war in 2002 when Uhuru vied for presidency. He was the first to concede defeat," Wamalwa said.
The Saboti legislator who has declared his ambition for the presidency said he had no reason to doubt the authenticity of the letter presented by Moyale legislator and Special Programmes assistant minister Mohamud Ali.  Ali is the ODM deputy secretary general. Wamalwa arrived at the CID headquarters in the morning and was immediately directed to the Investigations Bureau. From the investigations bureau he went to the Economic Crimes division where he recorded his statement and then left. He said Kenyans were opposed to a politicised ICC process because justice must be done or seen to be done.
Kangundo legislator Joseph Muthama was summoned  to the CID headquarters earlier where he also recorded a statement regarding the same letter. Minister Anyan'g Nyong'o has disowned the letter. Moyale legislator and assistant minister for Special Programmes Mahmud Ali who is also expected to record a statement at the CID headquarters over the same letter soon.
