Did pastor kill pregnant girl to cover love affair?

A pastor allegedly stabbed a pregnant schoolgirl to death in a chilling assault in Trans-Nzoia County.
The Form Four student was five months pregnant after supposedly being in a relationship with the pastor for a year.
The illicit love was discovered after the student told to her parents that the clergyman had impregnated her.
The student was a Sunday school teacher at a church headed by the suspect.
The incident was later reported to the police who arrested the pastor.
Police said the pastor met with the student by the roadside near a church where he was waiting for her as she returned home after attending antenatal clinic at Kitale District Hospital.
After a lengthy talk, the student left the scene to board a matatu, but as she walked away, the pastor drew a sword he had hidden in his coat and stabbed her on the neck several times.
He then fled into a nearby maize plantation only to be pursued and arrested by a watchman guarding a homestead in the area.
"I shouted at the man to stop what he was doing when I saw him stab the girl. He then escaped into the maize plantation where I pursued him as I screamed for help," recounted John Simiyu.
ParalysedHis screams attracted area residents but it was too late to save the girl.
Residents thereafter wanted to lynch the pastor but he was saved and handed over to Kitale Police Station.
Police took the student’s body to Kitale District Hospital mortuary.
Learning at the secondary school where the deceased learned was paralysed after reports of her death were received.
The students protested against the murder of their colleague and urged the Government to punish the killer.
"This is a sad day for our school. Why did it happen to her? She was a polite and bright student," screamed a female teacher.
Students wailed as they mourned their departed colleague forcing the school management to allow them to visit the girl’s home to condole the parents.
DreamThe girl’s parents could not come to terms with the death of their last-born daughter.
"She had a dream to become a teacher. She is gone now and cannot realise the dream," wailed her mother.
Kitale DCIO Paul Wachira said the suspect was in police custody.
