WHERE IS MY REBATE? While he appreciates the efforts the Kenya Revenue Authority is making to get all to pay tax, Stephen King’ori is disappointed that KRA is not as enthusiastic about paying those who qualify for refunds.

Since the 2005/06 financial year, he has heeded KRA’s call to promptly file tax returns and has in all those cases confirmed that he should be paid rebates, but nothing happens.

PROJECT ABANDONED? The newly-constructed power line from Esibuye to Ematsuli in Emuhaya constituency has been lying idle for the past three months despite having been inspected and certified, Jonathan Angote reports.

As a result, he adds, transformers have not been installed so that would-be customers can be connected.

He fears that Kenya Power might have abandoned the project after the Rural Electrification Authority put up the power lines.

KUDOS, NHIF STAFF. National Hospital Insurance Fund member Gamaliel Alukwe says he was pleasantly surprised recently when he called at the Fund’s office in Bandari Plaza at Westlands, Nairobi. The staff, contrary to his expectations on public service employees, he adds, were not only well-informed and cooperative, but also willing to go beyond call of duty to enable him to make amendments to his membership status. “It was done with the kind of courtesy that one hardly finds in most public offices.
