A nominated ODM MP was overheard complaining at the Orange House last week that the arrogance of some party officials and MPs from Luo Nyanza and Western provinces were putting in jeopardy Prime Minister Raila Odinga's chances of winning the presidential race. The MP was concerned that the crass behaviour by some party officials and MP who behave as if the party is only for people from Nyanza and Western provinces will cost the PM dearly.

The power struggles rocking the PM’s inner circle seems to have spread over to Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp where we are told some of his supporters led by a PS from the Mount Kenya region are pushing to remove former President Kibaki's PA Alfred Getonga from the inner circle. Those in the know say the PS-led camp want Getonga removed from the inner circle until he clears his name following allegations by former PS Sammy Kirui that he solicited a bribe for DDP Keriako Tobiko’ and his alleged connection with Anglo Leasing scandal.Getonga has since denied Kirui's allegations.

A requirement by the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton students to register for and undertake a driving course has become a windfall for some policemen and driving instructors. Sh10,000 for the course which is conducted by the college in conjunction with the Automobile Association of Kenya. The amount includes the money for the driving test which they students undergo before they get their licenses. However, unscrupulous driving instructors and police examiners have been demanding Sh1,500  from each student— that translates to a cool Sh150,000 per semester!
