Justice and constitutional affairs minister Mutula Kilonzo says the rendition of Kenyans was illegal
Justice and constitutional affairs Minister Mutula Kilonzo wants Kenyans languishing in Ugandan prisons repatriated to face trial in the country.
Mutula on Monday said the government violated the rights of 13 Kenyans extradited to answer to charges of terrorism in Uganda.
He argues that those who authorized the renditions should be prosecuted for violating fundamental rights of the suspects as provided for in the constitution.
Mutula was responding to questions by legislators when he appeared before the parliamentary committee on defense to explain what he knows about the extraditions.
The Justice Minister also condemned the deportation of the Kenyan human rights activists led by the National commission on Human Rights commissioner Hassan Omar and accused Uganda of violating the East Africa Treaty on human rights.
Last week Omar accompanied by other activists was denied access to Uganda and the detained Kenyans and deported back to the country.
13 Kenyans are detained in Uganda accused of the bombing Kampala during the World Cup final in July last year.
The Al - shabab claimed responsibility for the heinous attack but the Kenyans remain behind bars in the neighbouring country.
