Kenya is set to begin the second phase of lobbying among members of the United Nations Security Council, for the deferment of the Hague process.
In this regard, President Mwai Kibaki Friday nominated special envoys to lobby the member states to defer the Hague process for a period of one year.
This will allow time for the establishment of a local mechanism to try suspects of the post-election violence.
Permanent members of the Security Council are Britain, China, U.S.A., Russia and France. The current non permanent members are Nigeria, Gabon, South Africa, India, Lebanon, Brazil, Colombia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Germany and Portugal.
The special envoys are Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka and Ministers Njeru Githae, Sally Kosgei, Hellen Sambili, Chirau Ali Mwakwere, George Saitoti and Richard Onyonka.
