A cross section of leaders from Murang'a County has hailed a move by President Mwai Kibaki to preach peace and harmony in the country during his recent Eldoret peace rally with leaders from Rift Valley.
Speaking during a fundraiser in Gatanga over the weekend,  the leaders, led by MPs Peter Kenneth, Elias Mbau and a Nyeri politician Mary Wambui, however dismissed the Kikuyu, Kalenjin and Kamba alliance arguing saying it was bound to divide Kenyans and create suspicion and enmity among other communities.
Kenneth also accused those calling for generational politics adding that Kenyans were yearning for leaders who can break from the past and usher in new stewardship with focus, fresh and progressive ideas.
Kenneth and Wambui said lasting peace can only be realized if the IDPs still languishing in camps are resettled back to their farms and properly compensated for their loss.
The Gatanga MP said Kenyans should elect people with proven leadership qualities at the grass roots, constituency and national levels.
"Some of these "young" politicians propagating for generational change have been unable to even manage their own constituency, how can they lead the nation," he posed amid thunderous cheers.
ODM rebels on Friday teamed up with PNU stalwarts to stage a major rally at the Eldoret 64 Stadium.
The rally  designed to reconcile communities who fought in 2008 - was attended by ODM chairman Henry Kosgey, deputy party leader William Ruto and more than 60 MPs
