The Interim Independent Electoral Commission confirmed that the proposed constitution has been endorsed. The Yes team garnered 67% of the vote, against 30% for the 'NO' team. At the KICC President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga welcomed the result and called on the country to unite in implementing the new set of laws. Earlier in the day, Higher Education Minister William Ruto conceded defeat but called for more talks over the contentious issues. And Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo says the government is all set with legislations that will bring the new constitution into full effect.
