A section of civil society organizations are now alleging attempts to derail the implementation of the proposed constitution.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, the National Civil Society Congress is asking Kenyans to be on the alert as the new law is enacted.

The lobby group is now demanding that saboteurs to a new dawn must be stopped in their tracks and called for the full implementation of the new constitution insisting that the will of the people must be respected.

" There are those who will put roadblocks in enactment of legislations but they must be stopped. The will of the people must be respected" said NCSC head Maurice Odhiambo

The group insists that the people must continue to be sensitized on the provisions of the proposed constitution.

They urged for vigilance among the public and media to ensure smooth transition even as they stressed that the next occupants of the constitutional offices like the Attorney General and the Chief Justice should be people of high integrity.

He said the setting up of institutions to implement the new law was paramount adding that the appointments must be on the basis of personal integrity, competence and suitability.

"We demand that that all people mentioned and or implicated of crimes by the various commissions of inquiry, should not be appointed to these offices" said the lobbyists

The lobby group is set to launch an initiative dubbed Jukwaa La Katiba that aims to provide a platform for Kenyans to take part in the implementation of the new constitution.
