Thursday January 31, 2013 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid received a huge lift on Wednesday, after a group of woman from North Rift endorsed his bid.
The group “Wamama na Raila” which drew women from Uashin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Nandi counties resolved to mobilise women in the region to ensure Prime Minister Raila Odinga garners more than 1 million votes in the entire Rift Valley.
Led by the group coordinator Margret Jepkoech, the group reiterated their allegiance to the PM, saying he is the only leader who is able to safeguard women interests in the country.
She also pointed out that they would conduct road shows in major towns of the counties before embarking on a door to door campaign in rural part of the counties.
Jepkoech said that they would also use their rallies to preach peace among various communities in the vote rich region.
