Tragedy struck a family in Nairobi's Huruma estate after a building collapsed on them leaving one person dead and five nursing injuries.
The three-storied building under construction gave in to strong winds, crashing on nearby iron sheet houses.
The incident came just days after the government announced plans to introduce a building code to mete out stiffer penalties on poorly constructed houses.
Anxiety and fear engulfed residents as they moved to save and evacuate the injured to the hospital.
The residents claimed the building was constructed in a rush virtually ignoring all building regulations.
Kasarani police boss Leonard Omollo said police have launched investigations into the incident to establish the cause of the accident.
The Ministry of Housing has already finalised the drafting of new regulations that will rid the building industry of quacks.
The draft Bill aims at injecting professionalism in the urban housing sector.
