Rare pink hippo spotted in Kenya
Though spotted bathing in the river the same as the others do, the pink hippo stands out amongst its herds due to its especially cute color.
The photos were captured by a French couple in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
The rare pink color is due to leucism, a condition that causes pigmentation cells to develop improperly. Leucistic animals usually face a tougher survival environment as it’s easier for predators to spot them, and they are also more likely to get sunburns.
