What did President Uhuru Kenyatta tell Cord leader Raila Odinga yesterday as they stepped out of Nyayo Stadium? The President stopped to wait for Raila and stretched his hand to greet him as many other dignitaries froze. After the handshake, Raila and Cord co-principal Moses Wetang’ula unusually declined to speak to the media when journalists approached them.

Had Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot been approached to take over from Joseph ole Lenku as Cabinet Secretary in charge of Interior? We are told that some people close to the President had floated his name and even approached the former Internal Security PS but URP politicians objected to the idea. They said giving Cheruiyot the position would send the wrong signal to Deputy President William Ruto as the two have fallen out in the past. It is at this point that the search team settled for Kajiado Central MP Joseph Nkaissery.

Just what exactly is going on at CID headquarters? We are told that the department has been struggling to finance its operations. Officers have gone without money and electricity was recently disconnected, greatly compromising the operations at Mazingira House.

News that a senior police officer is poised to replace Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has got tongues wagging. An officer told Corridors that the man has an “interesting past” and should he be named, there is likely to be a flurry of complaints against him.
