That Alfred Mutua could run for President in 2017, is an issue some Ukambani leaders are openly talking about. On Sunday some MPs and governors said they were scouting around for someone to take over from former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Cabinet secretary Charity Ngilu as the community's leaders. Their reason is that both Kalonzo and Ngilu have failed to unite the community and have no national appeal that is strong enough to propel them to the presidency. So far the only person they hope to persuade, according to the MPs is Mutua.

When Raila Odinga claimed that the Military facilitated the stealing of his votes in the last election, some military chiefs were so upset with the former Prime Minister that they even suggested that they should call a press conference to challenge Raila to substantiate his remarks. They said, in the officer's mess in one of the barracks based in Nairobi, that the remarks were not just preposterous but were aimed at tarnishing their good name. After animated discussion on the matter the officers eventually decide that they will raise their concerns through their minister Raychell Omamo.

A Governor from central has been warned by county MCAs not to run the county like a 'personal kiosk' by making unilateral decisions. The governor is accused of high handedness and committing the county to investments decision that have not been approved by the county assembly.

ODM may be interested interested in revamping the Party but there are some party members who are also interested in maintaining the status quo. we are told those opposed to changes in the party are afraid that the party may land in "radical hands" who can kick out old guards and other party members they do not like.
