NAIROBI Senator Mike Sonko and Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang yesterday handed over a bus worth Sh5 million to a former city gang members.
The former members of the outlawed Kamjesh gang received the 33- seater bus at Baba Dogo, Ruaraka constituency.
Sonko said the youth should be supported to become self-reliant. He said such projects will reduce crime as the youth will earn income from the bus.
The bus will operate under Lucky Babadogo Sacco. “Many youths were killed in crime. We used to extort money from motorists and manned all matatu terminals,” he said.
Mburu said the goverment’s move to rid the city centre of 14-seater matatus will decongest the streets.
“I want to advise the youth that everything is possible. Just believe in yourself and you will make it,” he said.
