Midiwo ordered out of municipal house

Wednesday, July 3, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY MAURICE ALAL
KISUMU County government has directed those occupying municipal houses to vacate before they are forcefully evicted.
County Planning, Roads and Public Works boss Vincent Kodera said the government wants to renovate the houses to accommodate its senior officials.
Kodera said some of the county officers have no residence in Kisumu and are forced to commute daily from their rural homes. “This is expensive and will cost the county government a lot of money that should be directed to development activities,” he said.
He said the Governor Jack Ranguma currently stays in a hotel because some people have refused to vacate the houses. He named Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo as one of the 10 people who have not vacated the houses at Milimani Estate.
"Some people have even threatened council officials whenever they are asked to move out," said Kodera. He warned that the county government will forcefully evict them irrespective of their status if they do not vacate willingly.
