The electoral team has summoned lawyer Kethi Kilonzo to clear the air over her eligibility to contest the Makueni Senate seat.
Ms Kilonzo and six other people, including Narc nominee Philip Kaloki are expected to explain their positions to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)’s Nominations Dispute Resolution Committee at the Milimani Law Courts on Friday.
Committee chairman Thomas Letangule also directed party leaders of the Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM), Narc, URP and People’s Party of Kenya to attend the 10am session without fail.
Heard in their absence
Should any of those summoned fail to attend, the complaints will be heard in their absence, Mr Letangule warned while responding to claims by Jubilee that Ms Kilonzo, who is seeking to succeed her father Mutula Kilonzo, is not a registered voter.
Ms Kilonzo on Wednesday dismissed the allegations and challenged the doubters to confirm her registration status with the IEBC.
Complaints against Prof Kaloki were raised by the Wiper party, which says he is their member.
The by-election is set for July 22.
