Pathologist queries delay in Mutula autopsy results

By Daniel Nzia
MAKUENI, KENYA: Former Chief Government pathologist Dr. Geofrey Zambezi Mutuma has questioned delay in the release of postmortem report  for late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo.
Dr.Mutuma differed with the colleagues over the period they gave before the release of final report, saying he was surprised by their promise to deliver a detailed report within a period of between eight to ten weeks.
“From my long experience and the good training I got in forensic practice there is no postmortem test that can take ten weeks to conclude”, he said.
Dr.Mutuma said pathologist would take a maximum of 72 hours to deliver his or her report after conducting a postmortem examination.
“The pathologists should have told us what they had found as the cause of the late Mutula’s death as part of their preliminary findings”, he added.
Meanwhile preparations for the burial of the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo are in top gear.
Family chairman Jeremiah Muthembwa said all the necessary machinery has been put in place for the burial of the late Mutula at his Woyani village home,Utangwa location in Mbooni constituency.
The former cabinet minister will be buried at his farm on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at the Nairobi Babtist church on Wednesday from 10.30am and another one at Kikima secondary school grounds in Mbooni on Thursday 11.00am before his remains are buried later in the day.
