Senator defends Ruto over jet

MONDAY, MAY 27, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY GEORGE MURAGE
NAKURU Senator James Mungai has defended Deputy President William Ruto over the jet saga saying the issue was blown out of proportion.
The Senator, who had accompanied Ruto on the trip, accused the press of “poisoning Kenyans” with misleading reports about the tour. Mungai said the information given by the press was wrong and had ended up portraying the Deputy President negatively.
“I was part of the entourage. Reports that the plane had a VIP lounge and a bed are completely false and misleading. That is not the truth,” he said.
Mungai said they slept on the plane’s seats through out the long journey that took them across several countries in West and Central Africa.
