Kiraitu Tells The Media To Keep Off His Affairs

Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi flanked by Alliance Party of Kenya elected leaders addresses the media during a past function at the party offices.
Meru Senator says the press has been on his case since he was the Justcie minister, pleads to be left alone
Meru Senator Kairaitu Murungi has told the media to leave him alone to enable him concentrate on development projects in his county.
He claimed when he was the Justice minister, the media kept on antagonising him at the expense of service delivery .
“When I served as the Justice Minister, the media made capital from my activities to the extent that it almost became impossible to deliver services as required,“ he said.
Speaking at Kinoru Stadium on Saturday during his home coming ceremony, he said upon being moved from the Justice docket to Energy, he asked the media to judge him by the number of electric poles he was able to supply to the rural areas.
“When I exited the Energy portfolio, Kenyans will remember me for widespread power connection, “he said.
He told the media to judge him by the number of water pipes he will have installed in the entire county, and the kilometreS of road he will have constructed.
The Senator said he has already outlined a development road map for the county for the next five years if only the media could give him space to accomplish his goals.
The former Imenti South MP told those who opposed him to come out and join him in carrying out development agenda for the county.
Governor Peter Munya accused the Treasury of interfering with the disbursement of funds to the devolved governments.
He wondered why the Treasury was interfering yet the Micah Cheserem led commission on resource allocation was still in place and mandated to distribute funds to all the 47 counties.
“The Treasury’s role is to disburse funds to the CRA for allocation to the 47 Counties and no more than that, “he said.
He said although the counties were still grappling to settle down for business, nothing could move due to lack of basic facilities and infrastructure.
Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti said everything possible should be done to ensure devolution becomes a reality.
He assured MPs from the Mt Kenya East region that they should count on him and Kiraitu when it comes to issues requiring the attention of the Senate.
