NAIROBI, Kenya, May 2 – Two Iranians have been found guilty by a Nairobi court of being in possession of explosive materials which was found Mombasa in June last year.
The court has ruled that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that Sayed Mansour Mousavi and Ahmed Abolfathi Mohammed were part of the group that left the explosive materials at Mama Ngina Drive before fleeing.
Nairobi Chief Magistrate Kiarie Wa Kiarie has now given the defence until Monday to prepare their mitigation before he delivers his sentence.
The two face up to 15 years in jail which is the maximum sentence for a person found guilty of possessing explosives.
Charges facing the two read that they were found with 15 kilograms of RDX explosives in circumstances which indicated that they were armed with intent to commit a felony otherwise known as grievous harm.
The offence was committed on unspecified dates before June 20, 2012 at Mombasa Golf Course along Mama Ngina drive in the port city.
They both denied the charges when their case was mentioned in June 2012.
