When Ruto shared a forum with Ida Odinga

NAIROBI,KENYA: Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday shared a public forum with Ida Odinga, the wife of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
There appeared to be no tension between the two — who were on opposing sides in the last General Election — as they exchanged greetings and niceties during a dedication ceremony at Winners Chapel Church along Mombasa Road in Nairobi.
Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who unsuccessfully vied for the Nairobi Senate seat on an ODM ticket, was also present at the church. In his speech, Ruto touched on the issue of Cabinet saying: “His Excellency the President has an assignment from Kenyans. He is engrossed in assembling a Cabinet of men and women of integrity.”
He acknowledged that the country was anxiously waiting for the Cabinet list, but declined to give details, dodging questions from the Press after the event. Earlier in the week, President Uhuru released a list of 18 ministries as the new structure of his Government, but did not give names of Cabinet Secretaries who will take up the dockets.
Economic revolution
Speaking at the church, where he was accompanied by his wife Rachel, Ruto said the country is gearing towards an economic revolution. The Deputy Head of State said the Government is keen on sorting out the problem of insecurity, adding that the country is destined for great things. “We are living in interesting times. There will be an economic revolution in the country. Every Kenyan should roll up their sleeves, tighten their belts and pull up theirs socks not to be left behind,” he said.
He urged Christians to pray for Government efforts in taming criminal gangs like the Al Shabaab and other illegal groups.
