Own Up Kiai, What Really Is Your Beef?

Human rights activist Maina KIai.
Is self-styled human rights activist Maina Kiai a loose cannon or simply a frustrated man fighting shadows? For some years now, Kiai has been shuttling between Nairobi and Western capitals talking ill of his country and its leaders.
According to Kiai’s apparently permanent position on the status quo, Kenya is still in the doldrums, both in politics and leadership. While his brother-in-arms, John Githongo, of “It’s Our Time to Eat” fame seems to have cooled off somehow (may be taking time to digest something he has eaten!), Kiai is still firing salvos at the powers that be.
After launching “The People’s Court” in Nairobi on April 12, Kiai was at it again in a forum held in Washington, United States on Tuesday pontificating how the Supreme Court failed in its ruling of the Presidential election petition. It does not need an overseer to discern that Kiai’s fights have very little to do with patriotism. Honestly, the man urgently needs some time out!
