Corridors of Power

We know transition takes time but is the Presidential Press Service still serving retired President Kibaki? Two weeks after he and his entourage drove off into the twilight, the Presidential Press Service is still serving the ex-president. Indeed, when he attended Sunday Mass at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands, the PPS duly recorded and distributed the requisite photos and captions. But it seems to be causing some confusion as yesterday the PPS sent out yet another function, this time titled —H.E. Kibaki-Iraq farewell. Only thing is, the photo was that of President Uhuru bidding farewell to outgoing Iraqi ambassador!

Still on old habits dying hard....the ex administration commandant now Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has prepared for himself a duty roster of how he intends to run Nakuru county. And to ensure there is no conflict, he has pinned the roster on public noticeboards in his office. According to the roster, Mbugua will every monday be making field visits and holding barazas; he will be meeting with the local county CEOs every Tueday; departmental heads meeting every Wednesdays and will only be able to meet with the electorate on Thursdays. Fridays he intends to spend the day  handling his files and paperwork.

The election of student leaders at the University of Nairobi will be denied the usual flow of cash from mainstream national politicians, after the administration set the date just after the General Election. Many candidates had thought the elections would come early so that they would ride on the wave of the national politics. As a result, the campaigns have been muted with those students intending to run for office being forced to finance their own campaigns!
