The delay by President Uhuru Kenyatta to name new Cabinet members is likely to result in a budget crisis in Parliament, Suba MP John Mbadi warned on Monday.
Speaking during a press conference at Parliament buildings in Nairobi, Mr Mbadi said budget estimates should to be tabled in Parliament by the Cabinet secretary by April 30 to enable MPs approve allocations to the various ministries.
“We are therefore concerned and would like to urge President Kenyatta to perform his civic duty by naming his Cabinet not later than today (Tuesday)," he said.
“By delaying in naming the Cabinet, the Jubilee Government is disadvantaging itself since the Cabinet secretary will not have adequate time to acquaint himself with the budget estimates which he is mandated to table in Parliament,” Mr Mbadi added.

The list of MPs to sit in the Committee on Appointments will be presented to the National Assembly by Majority Leader Aden Duale after the House Business Committee meets Tuesday morning.
It is understood that President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have been waiting for the formation of the team before making public the Cabinet nominees.
But Mr Mbadi, while fielding questions from journalists, described the continued delay in naming of the Cabinet as “unconstitutional”.
“It is now two weeks since President Kenyatta and his deputy were inaugurated and they should get out of the excitement since the honeymoon is now over."
“The naming of the Cabinet is a very important exercise which should not be delayed any further,” Mr Mbadi added.
