As Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto prepare to take over control of government next week, the ICC trials and the process itself remain a challenge that they will have to contend with. Kenyatta had applied to be allowed to attend the trails via video links, a request that has been opposed by the ICC Prosecutor. ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has urged the court to dismiss the request by Kenyatta on grounds that that this would give an impression of trail in absentia and that technology could fail during trial.
