Senator-elect Muthama grilled over remarks

Machakos senator-elect Johnston Muthama was Thursday afternoon questioned over what police termed as inciting remarks he allegedly made in Nairobi.
Muthama was summoned to Nairobi Area police command where he recorded a statement and released but ordered to report there on Friday again for further questioning.
He recorded a statement before Nairobi Area head of CID Mr Nicholas Kamwende up to about 6pm when he was released.
Police said they were questioning him in regard to remarks he made at a rally in Kibera on Tuesday.
Kamwende said the questioning was procedural and that they expect to clear with him on Friday.
“He has not been arrested and it was a normal session that we had with him to clear some issues. We will forward a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for direction after our investigations are complete,” said Kamwende.
Muthama later called a press conference to his private office in Nairobi where he was expected to issue a statement over his grilling.
He denied the police allegations and promised to counter them.
