Kalonzo calls for prayers for Mutunga team

By Paul Mutua
KENYA: Vice-President Kalonzo has asked Kenyans to pray for the six Supreme Court judges as they deliver the historic ruling on the presidential election petition.
He also said God should touch the contesting parties to accept the judgement and for Kenyans to maintain peace. In a communiqué to Ukambani professionals from his adviser Timothy King’ondu, the VP said he was proud of Chief Justice Willy Mutunga.
“As fate would have it, a member of our community is playing a vital role when our country is at a critical crossroad. As with the very large majority of members of our society entrusted with national duties of critical importance, Dr Mutunga has carried himself with the dignity and sobriety that gives the entire country confidence in the court’s ability to fairly adjudicate this case,” the VP said.
The CORD deputy presidential candidate said Dr Mutunga has excellent examples of professionals who have gone before him; General Jackson Mulinge who stabilised the military during the attempted coup of 1982 and the late Samuel Kivuitu who oversaw the General Election/Constitutional referendums in 1997, 2002, 2005 and 2007 among others.
