Disregard Kimemia orders, says VP

FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY WAMBUA KAVILA
Vice president Kalonzo Musyoka yesterday accused the government of misleading Kenyans that matters dealing with the elections were over.
The VP took great exception with a circular distributed by public service boss Francis Kimemia to all county commissioners to be read during the swearing-in ceremony for governors.
The circular called on the commissioners to tell Kenyans to put the election behind them and carry on with their normal lives. "Matters pertaining to the elections are not over as it is in the Supreme Court and Kenyans are following the proceedings," said Kalonzo.
He said the author of the circular should be prosecuted for contempt of court and urged Kenyans not to take its content seriously. He thanked the Machakos county commissioner Anne Gakuria for not reading the circular during the swearing-in ceremony of Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua.
Kalonzo said to end impunity in the country, all should respect the court. The VP was speaking after the swearing-in of Mutua and called on Kenyans to fully embrace devolution and use it as an instrument to fight poverty. He called on Kenyans to maintain peace as they await the court ruling over the election.
