Uhuru intensifies campaigns in Kisii

By Robert Nyasato
KISII, KENYA: Jubilee alliance presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday intensified his quest for votes in Kisii where he urged Kenyans to reject Cord flag bearer Raila Odinga saying he is not a team player after five of six pentagon members ditched him.
He said Kenyans should elect a leader who will work with others to unite Kenyans.
“Of the five who ran away from him, four are with me while the other is on his own...can all of them be wrong,” he asked.
“What we want are leaders to get united to sort out problems bedeviling this country as no one individual has solutions to them,” Uhuru told a rally at Mosocho in Kitutu Chache South shortly after a meeting with youth and Jubilee candidates at Nyakoe Hotel.
The Deputy Prime Minister cited unemployment, poor infrastructure and insecurity as some of the problems facing Kenyans that needed to be addressed.
“Our problems as leaders is that we are busy preaching hatred instead of sitting together to address the plight of Kenyans,” he said adding that politicians were busy fighting for positions leaving out the common man suffering.
He accused Raila of propagating hatred and abuses against his candidature which was detrimental to the well being of the country saying: “This country no longer needs one king but leaders who can work together because there is strength in consultation as no single man has solutions to our problems.”
Urging the Gusii people to rally behind him, Uhuru said a Jubilee government would start a new chapter in the history of Kenya.
The DPM who was on his second day of vote hunting in Kisii and Nyamira counties was flanked by Foreign Affairs Minister, Prof Sam Ongeri, National Heritage Assistant Minister Wilfred Ombui, former Mps Walter Nyambati, Robert Monda, Jimmy Angwenyi, aspiring governors Lumumba Nyaberi(Kisii), Dennis Abincha(Nyamira), Peter Ndemo(Kisii) and senate candidates Mose Nyambega(Nyamira).
Terming Abagusii a hard working community, Uhuru said his government would create a conducive environment for them to invest in any part of the country.
On his part, Prof Ongeri said Abagusii had spread their wings all over the country and had decided to back Jubilee because it was accommodative to their interests.
Uhuru urged the voters to turn out in large numbers and make their choice on polling day.
The DMP held rallies at Kerina in Bonchari, Nyanturago in Nyaribari Chache, Nyangusu in Bobasi and Omogenda in South Mugirango before holding a grand rally at Gusii Stadium.
