Salaries team proposes Sh1.3m pay for president

Kenya's next president will earn Sh1.3 million if a proposal by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission is upheld.
The SRC also proposed new pay structures for different state officers.
In the proposals, the maximum pay for president should be Sh1.75m
A deputy president shall earn Sh1.15m (minimum) and a maximum of Sh1.48m per month.
The Speaker of the National Assembly shall earn Sh1.05m rising to Sh1.4m
The Chief Justice's proposed pay stands at Sh1.03m and a maximum of Sh1.38m.
A Cabinet Secretary shall be paid Sh840,000 rising to Sh1.12m while a County Governor shall earn Sh833,755 and a maximum of Sh1.1m.
The SRC proposes that a Member of Parliament (MP) shall be paid Sh555,696 and a maximum of Sh740,927. Also in the same bracket is the Senator.
Starting Monday, the SRC will hold public hearings over the proposed salaries countrywide.
However, the hearings will begin on Thursday in Nairobi.
