RAILA ODINGA and the LAND DEBATE: Did you know this?

Let’s talk about land.

By far the most rapacious group of large landowners in Kenya are former British colonialists.

If you visit upper eastern and parts of Laikipia you will be shocked to learn that some wazungus like Kuki Gallman own small countries of 300,000 acres. Places like Lewa are even larger.

And while you can be arrested for hunting an antelope for supper, these former colonialists can hunt kundu for dinner without anybody raising a finger.

They have entire gameparks on 'their' land and they treat the animals there, including endangered species, as their personal property. Remember the laws of Kenya designate all wildlife as a national resource?

And remember these colonialists gave themselves leases of 999 years just before Kenya got independent - good thing the new Katiba overturned that.

And am not even going to talk about the millions of arable acres owned illegally - because they were not bought but grabbed from hapless Africans in the 1930s - by British multinationals like James Finlay, Unilever and Del Monte.

But of course some house niggas can't get to see this. They are too busy fighting their own black brothers to see the truth. Like brainless chickens they are too busy having cockfights not knowing some guy is busy sharpening a knife to butcher them both.

This has been the curse of the African by the way over the centuries - some people would rather sell their brothers for beads rather than fight for freedom and human dignity.

Which is why am proudly Mau Mau if you know what I mean.
