Mudavadi: Western united to vote for me

By Michael Wesonga
Amani presidential candidate Musalia Mudavadi has cautioned critics of the Luhya unity and watch out for a consolidated vote in the March 4 elections.
He downplayed claims that voting for him translate into a Jubilee vote as cheap propaganda, arguing he has all intentions of winning the polls.
“I thought voting is only once; every voter shall be entitled to vote only once for every seat and I, therefore, do not understand how my votes will be someone else’s,” he argued.
Mudavadi was addressing New Ford-Kenya Trans Nzioa County leaders hosted at Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa’s home on Saturday.
He maintained the presidential seat was not a preserve nor guaranteed for particular persons.
“It would otherwise be needless for an election after every five years if that was the case. That is why I am calling for a truce by those distributing leaflets with cheap propaganda in this county,” he said.
Mudavadi thanked Wamalwa for foregoing his ambition to support his bid calling it historic and insisted it was his constitutional right to vie for any seat. He endorsed former Cabinet minister Kipruto arap Kirwa and former Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto who are vying for senator and MP positions in New-Ford-Kenya and Kanu respectively. The parties are in the Amani coalition.
Wamalwa challenged CORD to cease their claims that Mudavadi was out to spoil for them in Western.
“What will they say now that Uhuru is taking the lead in the most recent opinion polls? Will they say Mudavadi is spoiling for Uhuru?” he posed.
Former Local Government minister Musikari Kombo cautioned against the counter-accusations between Jubilee and CORD as recipe for chaos.
“The counter-accusations from the two coalitions are creating unnecessary tension,” he warned.
