Kenneth woos Asian community

By Allan Kisia
The Eagle Alliance presidential candidate Peter Kenneth has assured the Asian community that their investments will be safe under his Government.
Mr Kenneth said he will prioritise security since it is critical in any investment. He noted that insecurity contributes to high cost of production thereby making products uncompetitive in the market.
“In some countries, all you need at your factory is a guard. In Kenya, you need an electric fence, an alarm system, guards, police officers, guard dogs and closed circuit cameras, all of which increase the price of your end product,” he explained.
Kenneth, while noting that Asian businesses employ many Kenyans, further said his Government will encourage investments by both local and international communities.
“I know you create a lot of employment opportunities and it is for this reason I want us to work together. Vote for what is right and not for what is convenient,” he advised.
He also assured that under his Government, the Asian community will feel “Kenyan enough and will be equal stakeholders in the running of the country’s affairs”.
“I will not give you promises but I will tell you what I can do for you. Promises have since become the cheapest commodity in the market,” he stated.
He added that Kenyans couldn’t keep electing the same characters and still expect change.
Kenneth made the remarks during a meeting with the Hindu Council of Kenya at the Visa Oshwal Centre in Nairobi. The Hindu Council of Kenya is an umbrella body of over 150 Hindu registered institutions in the country.
Present at the function were Kenneth’s running mate Ronald Osumba and Kenya National Congress women Nairobi representative candidate Esther Passaris and Hindu Council of Kenya chairman Dinesh Shah.
Osumba said Kenyans should elect leaders who will address issues affecting them.
“People should not feel that they have to pay allegiance to their groups or tribes,” he added.
He further said the Hindu community also has a say on who becomes the country’s fourth president.
