KALONZO meets a HOSTILE RECEPTION in Mombasa - BOOED and HECKLED by ODM supporters

Monday February 11, 2013 - Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was booed and heckled at an ODM rally in Mombasa County on Monday.

Kalonzo, who was campaigning for Wiper Democratic Movement candidate, Suleiman Shahbal met stiff resistance from ODM youths who shouted at him.

Confusion and heckling started when the ODM Kisauni parliamentary aspirant Rashid Benzimba, a close ally of Hassan Joho arrived in the company of youths chanting Joho’s name and calling Kalonzo “watermelon”

Benzimba told the crowd that Mombasa was an ODM zone and Kalonzo should not come to the County to confuse them with “a little known” party called Wiper.

“Mombasa is an ODM zone and we are confident of taking all the seats,”Benzimba said.
But Kalonzo, who was calm and composed during the melee, urged the rowdy youths to maintain peace for the sake of unity.

“Let us campaign peacefully and elect peacefully. There is no bad blood between us. This is siblings’ rivalry,” the VP told an infuriated crowd.

The move comes barely a day after reports emerged that Kalonzo had endorsed Hassan Joho instead of his party candidate Shahbal for Mombasa gubernatorial race.

The VP is said to have made the remarks in Malindi but his Communications Director Kaplich Barsito said he had been “misquoted”
