The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has nominated Justice Kalpana Rawal as the next Deputy Chief Justice.
Making the announcement, Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga cited Justice Rawal's experience in the judiciary.
"Justice Rawal is an experienced, distinguished and well grounded Judge with a clear view of the institution of the Judiciary," said Dr Mutunga, who is also the chairman of the JSC.
"She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the office acquired over a 40 year sojourn in the legal profession," he added.
