BOGUS NOMINATION CERTIFICATES IN CIRCULATION-IEBC

SUBJECT: BOGUS NOMINATION CERTIFICATES IN CIRCULATION

NAIROBI, 27TH JANUARY 2013: It has come to the attention of the Commission that there are bogus nomination certificates in circulation purported to have been issued to nominated candidates by IEBC. Nomination certificates will be issued by IEBC upon presentation of nomination certificates by aspiring candidates on 29th and 30th January, 2013 for the Presidential Aspirants at KICC from 8am to 5pm. The Governor, Senator and the County woman representative will present their nomination papers on the 31st January, 2013 and 1st February, 2013 at the County Returning Officers from 8am to 5pm. Member of the National Assembly and the Member of the County Assembly will present their at the Constituency Returning officer from 8am to 5pm.

The Commission has noted these bogus certificates bear fake signatures of the IEBC Chairman and CEO/Commission Secretary, fake rubber stamp, wrong references of the sections of the Electoral Laws among other fake features. Relevant security organs have been notified and already one arrest has been made.

This notice is to the general public and specifically to all political party aspirants for all the relevant elective positions.
