Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi took his campaigns to Kakamega’s Muliro Gardens where they claimed the CORD Alliance had lost ground in the region.
Mudavadi also took a swipe at Jubilee Alliance principals Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, saying they had plotted to derail his presidential bid.
Mr Mudavadi, Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa and Kanu National Chairman Gideon Moi were received by thousands of Amani supporters from the region.
The leaders said the Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s CORD team had lost ground in Western region. Gideon electrified the crowds when he told them he had been sent by former President Moi to greet them.
“I have been sent by former president to pass greeting to you people,” he said.
Mudavadi and Wamalwa said that residents of Western had resolved to unite and take one political direction and any other presidential candidate who was looking for votes from the region was wasting time and efforts.
“I am impressed with the overwhelming support I got from Bungoma yesterday (Friday) and here at Muliro...this is a confirmation that the community is united and has taken a stand and would not be swayed by anybody,” he said.
Cabinet minister Soita Shitanda, MPs Bonny Khalwale, George Khaniri, Yusuf Chanzu, Justus Kizito, Musikari Kombo, George Nyamweya, Alfred Sambu, Ben Washiali, former MPs Mukhisa Kituyi and Nick Salat and former PS Kenneth Lusaka were present.
“I want you to shame those who ridicule us by saying that we cannot put our votes in one basket. Vote for me to the last man on March 4,” said Mudavadi.
He noted that he was devoted to implementing the devolved system of governance.
