RAILA’s top aide asking for bribes in KISUMU!

Sunday October 21, 2012-A top aide associated with Prime Minister Raila Odinga has fallen out with his boss after he allegedly visited Kisumu and extorted money from some businessmen in the guise of raising funds for their campaigns.

Our moles say when the word about the aide’s visit to the lakeside city last weekend leaked out, the PM who is the ODM Presidential candidate was furious and ordered an immediate explanation.

The aide, who is among the most trusted aide in Raila’s camp, is reported to have extorted the money from the businessmen with promises of protection and exemption from taxation when his boss assumes State House in March next year.

This is not the first time a Raila aide is trying to raise campaign money through dubious means. What is appalling is whether he normally has the boss’ blessings. In Miguna’s book, Peeling Back the Mask page 170, Caroli Omondi went to Kulei and demanded 54 million in cash to help in ODM’s campaigns. Here is the excerpt>>>>

………It was much later – perhaps in mid-December 2007 – that us sceptics in the strategy team began to understand why Raila preferred what I would perceive as a rotten apple like Isahakia to any clean, progressive person. This must be understood within the context of there not being a campaign finance law in Kenya, enabling presidential and parliamentary candidates, specifically, to seek funding from corrupt businessmen, drug dealers, tax evaders and gun runners.

Usually, the funding wouldn’t come in the form of a cheque, money order or a banker’s draft; it would come in neatly packed cartons, huge sacks and dark plastic bags. One Saturday, I met Caroli at the OiLibya Petrol Station in the Westlands suburb near The Mall shopping complex ferrying piles of cash in his vehicle, stashed in plastic bags. He told me that it was Sh54m he had just collected from Moi’s former personal assistant Joshua Kulei. Apparently, Raila had sought help from Kulei in order to pay ODM presidential agents, a job which he had then tasked Caroli with. I shook my head and walked away………….

Raila has two trusted aides, Caroli Omondi and Dennis Onyango. Who was this in Kisumu?
