Mudavadi to pay Sh1m for party ticket

Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi will part with Sh1 million for the United Democratic Forum (UDF) presidential ticket.
Announcing nomination fees for elective offices, UDF chairman Hassan Osman said women and youth will pay Sh250,000 less.
Mr Osman said the party was charging modest fees to dispel the notion that leadership was a preserve of the rich.
He said candidates with disabilities will not pay nomination fees.
Those aspiring to be governors or senators will pay Sh750,000 while MP or county women representative hopefuls pay Sh50,000.
Younger women
County assembly seats aspirants will pay a modest Sh7,500. Women and youths seeking to be county assembly members pay Sh5,000 while those wishing to be governor or senator will pay Sh75,000.
Younger women seeking the position of county representative will pay Sh30,000 while women and youth who want to be MPs will also pay Sh30,000.
The party also demanded that Housing assistant minister Margaret Wanjiru and Juja MP William Kabogo be prosecuted for alleged hate speech.
It says Mr Kabogo made inciting utterances against Asians while it accuses Bishop Wanjiru of declaring Nairobi a no-go zone for “foreigners”.
