Ruto Participated In Post Election Violence; He admits

The crimes against humanity charges against the four Kenyans, William Ruto, Joshua Arap Sang, Uhuru Kenyatta and Francis Muthaura took a shocking turn after William Ruto admitted to have been involved in the planning of the violence during the 2008 post election violence.

Ruto admitted to have been involved the planning of the mass actions that fueled the violence but insisted that he did it together with Orange Democratic Leader Raila Odinga.

Through a statement to the ICC Pre- Trial judges, Ruto also admitted holding meetings at his Sugoi home to plan for the post election violence that killed 1133 people and displaced over 650,000.

The ICC Pre -Trial judges had given Ruto and the prosecution up to Monday this week, to present the list of the facts over which they are in agreement. This is in accordance with the ICC rules of procedure and evidence.

Ruto agreed that the list of local leaders who attended some meetings to plan for the violence are Daniel Tai, Nelson Serem, Joel Tarus, William Boit, William Metto and Jeremiah sang.

“After the results of the 2007 presidential elections were announced on 30th December 2007, violence broke in Kenya and lasted at least until end of January 2008. This is the period is referred to as the post election violence (PEV),” Ruto says.

These revelations gave stinging reality on what really transpired after the 2007 elections where lives were lost and thousands displaced from their homes.
