Orange party erred by axing Ruto, says Uhuru

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday criticised ODM for pushing out the most hard working ministers from its fold.

Speaking in Kajiado North during a rally to drum up support for The National Alliance candidate Moses ole Sakuda ahead of the September 17 by-election, Mr Kenyatta said Eldoret North MP had worked hard to make ODM strong.

“Take William Ruto, for example. He was removed from Cabinet even though he had worked hard to make the party strong and in his agriculture docket,” he said.

Mr Kenyatta dismissed politicians who took “pleasure in calling others tribalists”, saying during his stint at the Treasury he had ensured equitable allocation of funds for the construction of dispensaries, dams, health centres, model schools and fresh produce markets.

“I challenge them to tell Kenyans what their development record is,” the DPM said.

He held political rallies and meetings in Oldonyo Nyokie in Magadi during the campaigns for Mr Sakuda before heading to Shompole for a manyatta ceremony. He held another rally at Mosiro.

Mr Kenyatta was accompanied by assistant minister Katoo ole Metito, nominated MP Maison Leshomo, Kajiado County Council chairman Taraiya ole Kores, Mr Sakuda and other local leaders.

On Friday, Mr Kenyatta will be in Kangema to campaign for TNA candidate Tirus Ngahu.

He will begin his tour at Murang’a water/St Mary’s church before the roadshow heads to Nyakahura, Kiamara, Karugia and Kanorero.
